Weeks 20 and 21

Week 20

It's crazy to think that 20 weeks was the halfway point of my pregnancy.  Now we're already 40 weeks past that and 20 weeks into Aiden's life.  Wow, how incredibly in love with this little kid we are!  It's hard to imagine not having this precious boy in our lives and we are thankful for every moment with him and excited to watch him grow and be our little boy!

Aiden is awesome!  He's sleeping through the night and has definitely taken to the schedule I've inadvertently put him on.  He wakes up at 6 am on the button to eat and then still falls back asleep for an hour or two.  And, he wakes up at ~10 pm to eat before going to sleep for the night.  Over the long Memorial Day weekend we tested it a little bit, and sure enough, he's on this schedule with or without me interfering!  He smiles and kicks and splashes and rolls and chews on his fists every day.  He loves grabbing his feet and doing "happy baby".  It is so much fun to watch him grab toys and pick them up and bat them around.  He likes to grab at our faces, my hair, earrings, etc and reach towards anything we're holding or anything within reach.  He splashes like crazy and gets us all wet during bath time. He's so stinkin cute.

This was Mom and Dad's last week watching Aiden.  It's a little sad for everyone.  I've really enjoyed seeing them so much in the afternoons, and Aiden has loved being with them.  I know they are sad too, afraid he'll forget them.  :-( Surely not!  Whenever they are in town the little man will need to see them!  Lucky for them, they have some fun traveling coming up.  They head out to Palm Springs to check on the Granny and the house, and to bring their camp trailer back.  Then they head to Europe for a fabulous German River Cruise over their 40th wedding anniversary.  That's right! 40 years!  Hopefully they'll have a wonderful time.  Then in July they'll be spending some time in the mountains of Colorado and Utah and I'm sure some camping in Wyoming.  It should be a fun summer for them and hopefully we can catch some days in the mountains or camping with them too!  We'll sure miss them but appreciate all the time we got to spend with them this April and May.

In the mornings, (when Aiden is just waking up to eat and is fussing but still has his eyes closed) and I turn on the lamp, he squeezes his eyes shut tight and flails his arms around.  Even he hates waking up to the lights being turned on!

On Friday Aiden finally figured out how to roll to his right!  He had only been going to his left before, and he's finally going both directions.  It's definitely still his weak side, but if there is something there that he wants, he's coming for it!

We did a lot of yard work this weekend, replacing the bushes in front of the house, and Aiden got gushed on by all the neighbors, enjoying playing with him.  Fortunately he loves it outside and was a great little trooper.

Week 21 -

This was Delly's first week with Aiden and he transistioned really well.  He didn't seem to have a hard time adjusting, which was great, and Delly is loving her days with him.  Aiden learned to scream!  He screams with happiness just trying out his voice.  He's loud! He's a grabber.  He grabs for everything....the water bottle in our hand, my mouth, his toys, Kuna, his feet, even his ear.  He learned to grab his right ear and bends it and scratches it and is rough on himself!  At one point this week when I was changing him he was grabbing his pee-pee with his left hand and grabbing his foot and bringing it to his mouth with his right hand!  This week Aiden started enjoying when Dad tips him upside down or flys him around high in the air.    He's rolling both directions from his back and still kick kick kicks when he's on his stomach.  He can spin little 360's and loves to reach for his toys.  He did a little better falling asleep for me in the evenings, fighting it a little less, but he definitely still needs soothed.

We have begun the search for a nanny, with lots of phone interviews and couple face to face meetings.  It will take us a little time, but I'm sure we'll find someone great, to love our little guy like we do.
