Aiden turned 9 months old this Monday! We had his 9 month checkup and he's doing great! Growing big and strong and a few months ahead developmentally. We can start feeding him much more foods and start trying finger foods. The pediatrician highly recommended me not feeding Aiden at night anymore to break the little cycle we're in. We're happy to report that after Monday night, he slept through the night everyday! We increased his day time bottles to 6oz instead of 5oz, because he was legitimately hungry when he was waking up and I was not willing to make my hungry baby just cry it out. But, with the increased milk, he seemed to be good to go!!!! 😊😊😊
I had my first overnight work trip this week and first nights away from Aiden. Luckily we all survived! I was in Houston Tuesday night and by the time I got home Wednesday night Aiden was sound asleep. So by Thursday after work I was soooo ready to hug my little guy!! He did great with Shelby and Ross and seeing his smile when I got home makes all ok!
Each day he learned to string a few more steps together and he'd even show off on FaceTime for me. He gets so much energy at night time! He's doing so great. We still can't believe he's already walking!
Shelby says he's learning more and more everyday and that he's totally drawn to yellow toys. He loves to play with the bubbles and knock down blocks. He's enjoying books more and is just so darn cute.
We went to Winter Park with a bunch of Colorado School of Mines friends this weekend and shared a cabin with the Buckmaster's. They are worn down chasing after all their little ones, but it was fun to spend time with them. The weather was great, the changing trees was beautiful, and Kuna loved running around in the mountains. We slept terrible, but had a fun time with friends. Aiden loved the swings and enjoyed the outdoors. He really liked playing with the balloons at dinners. He would chase them all around. It was so cute.
On Sunday morning we fed Aiden some scrambled eggs, since the pediatrician gave us the ok. He only ate a few bites and didn't really seem to like it so we switched to other food. Then we got packed up and hit the road towards home. Aiden was great and napped the whole way. But....when we got home, we noticed hives all over his face. When we pulled his pants off he was red with a rash and had hives on his legs. Oh no! Appears he was having an allergic reaction to the eggs. Poor baby. Luckily one dose of baby benadryl and a long nap, and it was all cleared up. Poor little guy. We'll need to be much more careful introducing new foods going forward.
He continues to play with his hands more and understand more and more about what we're saying to him. Sleeping got a little off over the weekend, but hopefully it will be better again this week.
Week 40
Aiden has been on earth as long as he was in my belly! Crazy how time flys! Aiden really practiced walking like crazy this week and is getting so good. He can walk half way across a room before falling and is starting to understand how to grab on to something close by.
We went to the doctor on Tuesday to discuss the egg allergy. We'll need to avoid plain eggs going forward but it sounds like baked goods and things with eggs cooked into them should be ok. We'll need to go to an allergist in the future and we were prescribed an Epi Pen, that hopefully we won't ever need.

Aiden started stretching and pushing up against the straps on his high chair while eating and hollering like the Hulk trying to break out this week. It's so funny. This kid is a crack up.
Aiden did well sleeping this week. We let him cry it out a few times a night when he woke up, but it only took a few minutes. It's so nice that he's making it until about 6am everyday now! A little extra milk during the day and mom hopping out of bed a little slower was all we needed.
Aiden is still squealing like crazy and did so much this week. That is his way of talking and being excited. He would sit and flap his arms and squeal away. Or walk around and squeal. We also think Aiden is close to figuring out how to clap because he would sit and smack the top hand on top of the back of his other hand in his lap. So cute.
Aiden is doing awesome at trying to understand us, when we don't want him touching something. In particular, the tv remote, Kuna's water bowl, and all cords. He gets close and then sits back and looks at us before grabbing it. Or stops what he is doing and looks at us trying to understand. I also think he's figuring out not to bite me, because he didn't much this week. I screamed ouch a little louder a few times and flicked his cheek twice, and so far so good! He cried the first time I flicked him, so I think I scared him enough to make my point. 😢
New to the menu this week was pumpkin and broccoli. Pumpkin applesauce was a hit and pumpkin oatmeal needed some sweet fruit mixed in, but he seemed to enjoy it. Broccoli and pears also made broccoli an easy introduction. He's such a good little eater and wants everything that we're eating these days too. Just have to be cautious with new stuff after the egg scare!
Aiden and I had a busy and fun weekend while Ross was away for Flyer's bachelor party. Ross had a fun time with the boys in Vegas. On Saturday Aiden and I went to Sloane Lyche's 1st birthday party and it was cute to see him walking and the other babies crawling and the highlight was bringing home a balloon. He had so much fun batting it around and squealing and playing with it. The balloon literally provides three nights of entertainment. He chased it around and carried it around. It was so cute. Sunday Shelby came over to watch Aiden for a few hours so I could go run the Denver Rock n Roll half marathon. Not my best race, but not my worst considering i haven't run longer than 3-4 miles since Aiden was born. 1:56. I'll take it. Sunday afternoon we went and visited Gammie and Papa and showed off Aiden's walking skills! Huge milestone while they were away in CA. Then Rachel, Mom, Aiden and I went to Little Sarah's baby shower. Little boring, but we're happy for Sarah. 😀
I was a baby food making machine while Ross was away. Made for a busy weekend and some long evenings, but we have lots to choose from now and I was able to introduce some new items as well. I've also been busy trying to keep the house organized and not exploding with baby stuff.
It was a gorgeous fall weekend. The weather has been amazing. Love Denver and loved my fun days with my little man. 😊
