Week 38 -- Walking, biting, and understanding!!!

Week 38 -

Aiden finally starting sleeping better this week, waking up for a dream feed and one time during the night instead of two!  Made a huge difference for me.  I was getting totally worn down.  He woke up at like 7am on the dot almost everyday.  Hopefully we're slowly growing out of this little poor sleeping phase we've been in.

His little front teeth are looking more and more white under the gums, but still nothing is breaking through.  At this point, we think we need to make him be Dracula for Halloween, since he has the cute little vampire fang look going on!

Aiden is trying to walk sooooo badly.  On Thursday he attempted to take a couple steps by himself on a number of occasions.  He took one good step for Shelby.  He attempted 4 steps with Ross, after letting go of the stair railing.  And then he tried to quick 3-4 step shuffle towards Kuna with me before bed.  It's so cute to watch him try.  He's going to figure this out really quickly and be walking in no time.   So exciting and frightening at the same time!

Turns out I was right!  He figured out how to walk over the weekend!!!  From his first attempts on Thursday, to learning how to cruise around the furniture and few more deliberate attempts on Friday, to totally stringing steps together by Sunday.  On Saturday he was able to slower more deliberate steps towards us and was really working on his balance standing up.  And then by Sunday night he was taking steps like a little champ.  It was so neat to watch him figure it out. We can't believe our baby is already walking.  Not even 9 months old!  Good job little man!  Now there will be no keeping him still!

This week he started to enjoy playing in his bathroom.  We know he loves bathtime, but this is just cute and funny.  Whenever Shelby puts him down after getting changed he crawls into the bathroom and wants to play with his bath toys.   What a silly kiddo!

About mid-way through the week Aiden decided to start biting Momma when he eats. I'm trying to teach him "ouchie" and "no" because he can clamp down pretty hard. Hopefully we can break this little biting habit before it brings an end to nursing! He already gets so distracted as it is that getting him a good feeding these days is becoming more and more difficult.

It's so cool to watch him start to understand and comprehend things. For instance, he's starting to understand "No" and "not for you" when he's going after Kuna's bowls, the remote, the sliding door blinds. He'll sit back and look at you and stop what he's doing. It's incredible! Everyday he is learning something new.

Aiden also really figured out and noticed his hands this week. He stops and looks at them or concentrates to put two fingers together and watches himself open and close his fingers or fist. He can obviously use his hands quite well these days but he's never looked at them and watched them like this before. It's very cute.

It was a pretty huge week for Aiden! Just shy of 9 months and already taking steps on his own! Look out world!

Love you little man, even if you bite me! 😘
