2/8/16 - Stomping, Stacking, Shapes, and Sick. All done nursing!!

February 8, 2016

This week I was officially moved over to work the Bakken instead of DJ, so it was a hectic and busy week trying to transition.  I'm sure the next few weeks will be a challenge and longer hours, but hopefully it will be a good change and positive for my career. I'll sure miss working with the great DJ team and having a field so close to home.

Tuesday was the Broncos Super Bowl parade celebration!!  Ross and I both have offices on 17th Street, so we were right on the parade route.  We had Shelby and Aiden come down, which was fun.  Unfortunately it took her forever to actually get to my office parking spot because roads were already closed and 1 Million people came downtown!  We ate pizza and watched the parade from Ross's office window.  Pretty fun little experience.  Then they walked me back to work and when we took Aiden up to see some folks, he was hysterical!  He just sprinted up and down the hallways! I sure love this kid!  He's so much fun right now.  Learning so much and so active every day!

Aiden had a big week!  He really learned how to stack the colored rings and started figuring out his shapes on the little shape block.  He knows the circle, star, square and moon and can put them in their appropriate slots, at least occasionally.  With the rings, he is awesome at putting them all on and then pulling them back off, and he claps every time his finishes stacking them!  They aren't always in the right order, but he's doing so great!  It's pretty adorable when he claps each time, so proud of himself!

He stomps his little foot and waves his arm to dance, and his foot stomp is the cutest darn thing you've ever seen.

Aiden is saying Da-Da nonstop these days!  He points and waves at everything.  He loves to turn off and on the light switches, or push and pull the sliding door locking bar.  He ooooo's and runs to me when I turn the hair dryer on, but he doesn't really like or dislike when I let the warm air blow on him.  He loves running into the closest and finding a hat in the morning.  He realized how to pull things out of drawers this week too!  He emptied the whole bib drawer, likes to throw my tank tops out of my drawer in the closest, and even emptied an entire DVD drawer.  Funny little guy!  He gives great kisses on FaceTime, better than in real life! Aiden walks (which is him running!) Shelby or visitors to the door when they leave

He had another fun trip to gymnastics and is totally engaged at the toddler story time.

This week we officially finished nursing!  I did it!  One year of nursing and such a strong healthy baby. We got down to once a day last week, then every other day this week, because I wasn't making enough and he wasn't interested for very long, and Thursday night was the last time we nursed.  Over the long holiday weekend I figured I'd stop completely and tough it out if necessary, but my body seriously just stopped making milk and I didn't have to struggle at all.  Luckily he seems fine with it to and he enjoys the bottle.  We are down to our very last bags of frozen milk too, so it will be all cows milk going forward!  Now time to transition to colder milk and get him using a cup. :-)

On Saturday Aiden seemed to be coming down with a cold and was coughing a lot.  Of course he hates having his nose wiped, so that battle happened all day.  He slept terrible on Saturday night, crying and unhappy a lot, to the point that I even brought him in to lay with me at about 5am.  He was breathing so labored and clearly just felt horrible.  We went down to the couch at about 6am so that Ross could try to sleep.  He'd been up off and one since about 1am, I had rocked him back to sleep around 3-4am and then finally just had to go grab him at 5am. And then on Sunday the poor kiddo really wasn't feeling well.  He liked to snuggle a lot more and didn't want to eat much.  He was a picky eater most of the weekend.  Thankfully he was still drinking his milk well.  Nana and Grandpa brought him a soft and cuddly stuffed dog for Valentine's Day that he absolutely loved snuggling with.  He had a fever of 101 degrees and was awfully wheezy by Sunday night, but somehow was still smiley and as pleasant as could be.  I was afraid we'd be taking him to the doctor on Monday, but luckily his temp broke when the Tylenol kicked in and his wheezing was a bit better in the morning.  He's a tough cookie!

Monday was President's Day, so both Ross and I were home on holiday.  We had a nice relaxing day playing with Aiden and helping him get more rest.  He was a mess and didn't fall asleep for his afternoon nap!  He laid up there for 1.5 hrs!  He started smiling when Ross asked him to!  So cute!  Ross has been working with him on it and he seemed to understand today and give a big smile when Ross would ask him to. He also started a totally new giggle this weekend and gives this little chuckle all the time.  It was so so cute, especially since Aiden has not been a real giggly baby.

We adore the time we get to spend with our little man and the 3 day weekend sure was nice!
