16 Months

16 Month Stats

Weight: 24 lbs 6 oz
Height:
Eyes: Blue Green Gray
Hair: Light brown, looking more and more blond, and getting thicker
Clothes: 18 and 24 months.  24 month jammies and tops/onesies.  18 month pants shorts and some tops.  He's so tall and skinny.  Shorts fall off his little bootie!  He has a long torso and shorter legs.  Who would have thought!
Eating: Aiden drinks about 18-21 oz of milk each day, in 6-7 oz at breakfast, lunch, and dinner/before bed.  We're making progress with cups, but will still finish dinner's milk in a bottle before bed and most mornings he gets his milk in a bottle before breakfast. Aiden is good eater, as long as he's healthy!  He loves fruit!!  Oranges and blueberries are probably the favorites.  He likes shrimp and steak.  He loves yogurt, raisin toast, PB&J, mac n cheese mixed with veggies and meat, and spaghetti.
Sleeping: Aiden sleeps ~10 -10.5 hrs at night.  He goes to bed around 7:30-8 and wakes up at ~6:30 most days.  Some days he wakes up earlier and wants to hang out while we get ready in the morning!  Inevitably he never chooses to sleep in on weekends. :-)  Towards the end of this month, once Aiden started swim lessons, we were forced to try to transition him to one nap.  Most of the month he was taking two, one at ~9:30-10 and another at ~3, both for about an hour and a half.  When trying to go to one, he'd sleep usually over 2 hrs, usually going down around 10:30 or noon.  It's definitely a transition, and some days he'd fight his afternoon nap, would desperately need a power nap before dinner, or would go to bed super early.  This might take us a little while!  He plays hard, so he needs his sleep!
Talking: Aiden talks more and more each day.  He has mastered Mama this month, to go along with Dada.  He also says "mom" real quick and repeats it over and over.  He says basketball, yeah, no no no, banana (for all fruit and veggies), Papa, Mama for Gammie, Nana, and he tries to say Grandpa.  He says uh oh, baby, bye bye.
Milestones:  Aiden got so good at his sign language this month.  The big new one was "thank you" and he says it all the time.  He also learned "book" and "water".  We've been working on "I want" because he uses "more" for both 'more' and 'want' and we have also been working on "I love you".  It's so cool to watch him use "please, more, thank you, milk, water" all appropriately.  His sign for 'water' is one finger to his mouth and is so cute.  Aiden started swim lessons this month and also loved the pool when we went to Palm Desert.  He's doing amazing holding his breath and will hopefully learn how to float in his lessons very quickly.  Aiden makes a 'fishy face' like a little fish breathing, and pinches together his thumb and pointer finger for a crab.  He still makes elephant noises, does a woof woof for dogs, says naaa naaa naaa for cats (not sure why?!), and makes squeaky monkey noises all the time.  Aiden likes to try to feed himself with his spoon or pile food onto it.  He's gotten really good at throwing balls.  Aiden smiles a big fake smile when we ask him too, or occasionally he'll do it for us.  Aiden is just so smart.  Some of the things he does or understands just amazes us. For instance, when he pushes the on/off button on the receiver for the TV, he stands there and says "no no no".  He will pick up Kuna's outside bowl and put it where it belongs if it's in the wrong spot.  He also started doing so many activities with Shelby and has a theme to learn each week.  He's doing great with it so far!
Loves:  Aiden loves flowers and loves to smell them!  He tries to bite them occasionally too!  He adored riding on the golf cart in Palm Springs.  He loves the pool and loves 'jumping' in from the side or playing with the Orca fishy.  Aiden loves to play outside with pine cones, rocks, and the basketball hoops.  He loves the slides and swings and mulch at the park.  Aiden absolutely loves to read.  We ready so many books every day and night.  We read most of the bookcase each day!  We also started checking out books from the library this month, which has been fun to switch up what our choices are.  Aiden loves his stuffed animals, and in particular is very attached to his Ba Ba and his elephant lovie.  He also likes his big and little puppy and touches his big elephant through the slots in his crib.  Aiden is a talking and babbling machine. He talks a lot during dinner and during bath time and still loves to squeal.  He has started to laugh more, especially when we give him raspberries on his belly or tickle him.  He has learned to try and tickle us, mainly by going up to us and giggling before he touches us!  Daddy likes to whisper to him to go tickle mom or go kiss mom, and he usually does it!  He really likes to hold our hand when we're walking.  He loves trucks!  He likes to read about them, look for them outside, wave at them, kiss Dad's truck.  He still likes to see birds and loves other dogs at the park.  He really wants to snuggle with Kuna, but she usually runs off before letting him much.  When it's thundering out, she's scared, so she puts up with him laying on her and kicking his legs up on her more, until he pulls her hair or tail.  :-)  He loves the remotes, but only the ones that actually do something, and gets the biggest smile when we gets a hold of them!  He loves stamps, particularly after swim lessons!  He loves to take showers.
Hates: Aiden hates having his face wiped, as always, but that is seriously about it.  He gets hangry and cranky when he's sleepy.  But he is seriously such a happy little boy!  We're so lucky!

How is our baby already 16 months old and such a little boy already??!! It's been so incredible to watch him grow and change an learn so much.  He amazes us with how smart and fun he is every day.
