Week 52 - Happy birthday Aiden!

Week 52 -
I can't believe my baby boy is already a year old!  How did time go by so quickly?!  What a fun and incredible year it has been.  Aiden is such a happy little boy and learning and growing so much everyday!

He had a great birthday week!  On Monday Shelby and her mom took him to the zoo.  He's totally seeing the animals and enjoying it. He loved the birds, elephants, and giraffes.

On Tuesday the birthday boy got to go to gymnastics where he even went across the big trampoline by himself 3 times!  Wednesday the winter session of music class got underway and Shelby says he's getting more engaged and clapping and sitting in the circle more than wandering around like he did at some of the earlier classes.

On Aiden's birthday I had to go to the field and unfortunately couldn't get home in time to make him a little cake or anything, so he lucked out and got a full sugar cookies and cream cupcake from Whole Foods.  But, he did get to eat Coconut Curry Chicken with us, and finished off his night with a birthday cupcake!  He was so so cute eating it.  At first he just played with the cake base, but then when I flipped it over for him, he picked it up and just starting eating the frosting.  He made a total mess, but he loved it.  Happy Birthday our little angel.  We can't imagine our lives without you and are so blessed this first year was so incredible!

This week Aiden has become a babble machine!!!  He's just talking non stop.  Ma ma ma, ba ba ba, na na na and oooo are the more common.  He is "ooooo" ing at everything!!  And is using this deep old man sound.  It's hilarious.  He also started a new laugh, where he like sucks in his sound and gives a big smile.  He giggles more and more everyday and is still our happy little squealer!

Aiden is turning into a little book worm and will read almost all his books in the morning with Shelby and loves reading with us in the evening.  He loves his Peek A Who and Counting Cockatoos books.

He sprints towards Kuna's bowls, but now knows to not just splash the water everywhere.  He'll stand there and oooo or will just stick his hand in gently.  He loves loves loves to help make the coffee and "help" feed Kuna.  He loves when we seeing birds out the sliding door.

Aiden likes playing with us in his play hut and tunnel and climbs on us for protection and laughing when Kuna sticks her head in.  He loves running laps with his pull behind caterpillar and playing with the dump truck or shooting hoops downstairs.

He continues to be an amazing eater and really enjoyed the spaghetti and pizza we cooked up with week.  He's been waking up ~6 am each morning but will happily lay there talking and playing with his animals for 30 min or so.  He claps all the time, waves, blows kisses, and is definitely signing "milk".  He'll sign it a lot while he's drinking too.  We're hammering through the frozen milk now that I'm weaning, so I'm glad I didn't quit sooner because it wouldn't have lasted very long!  On Sunday I cut out the noon time feed I had been giving Aiden from me, because he was too distracted with his birthday party downstairs to eat!  We'll see how my body does with no pumping during the day.  Hopefully good, because it will be a great milestone to stop pumping!!!  I made it 1 year!!  He also got his first taste of cow's milk on Sunday!  We mixed one ounce in with his noon time bottle and it didn't bother him a bit.  So we'll have Shelby start adding a little to his bottles this next week to start getting him used to the flavor and we'll increase the amount over the next few weeks.

On Friday we attended the rosary for Ross's grandmother and Shelby helped us out with Aiden.  The service for sweet Marge was on Saturday morning.  It was a beautiful service with a great turn out and Aiden did fabulous in his first full mass.  He smiled at Daddy on his way back from doing his reading and gave Grandpa and Nana some good snuggles when they needed it most.  We went to the back just twice when he was talking a little too much!  But overall I think everyone appreciated his noises and sweet reminder about the circle of life.  G G Ger even commented that Marge would've loved hearing his church.  She'll be very missed.  There was a beautiful reception at a country club where all the family enjoyed playing with Aiden.  He did great eating sandwiches and we had fun playing outside with some snowballs, until an unfortunate fall on the ice.  But it was nap time anyway, so the meltdown was our cue to head home.

Saturday evening Ross and I tackled Pinterest ideas and got ready for Aiden's birthday party tomorrow.  Busy weekend!!  Our little monkey is turning one!  We made cupcakes and cakes that looked like Monkey's! And even made sugar free banana cupcakes and smash cake for Aiden.  We were really happy with how they turned out.  Total Pinterest successes!  We cooked tons of pulled pork and cole slaw.  And then we hit the sack!

Sunday was a fabulous day celebrating Aiden's birthday with friends and family.  It was such fun seeing and hearing the chaos of all those kiddos in our house and Aiden was sweet as could be.  I'll write a separate post about his party! Sunday night we went down to Grandpa Rhinehart's house to visit with the family all still in town.  Aiden brings smiles to everyone's faces!  He ate lasagna like a champ and had fun running up and down the stairs with Reid and Austin and Aubrey love playing with Aiden.  It was a crazy busy weekend, and emotional for Ross, and I think we both need some good sleep!!

I can't believe it's been 52 weeks since Aiden entered our lives and I can't believe how much fun he is every day!
