I took this week off to spend it with Aiden and use up some of my vacation days. 9 day weekend with only 2.5 days of vacation, pretty good!
Monday was beautiful, with weather in the 60's, so we decided to go check out the zoo! We'd been wanting to get a membership anyway, so it was a good day to head down there. Aiden seemed to enjoy it and we enjoyed the time with him! He liked the elephant, the gorilla, and the birds, because he could seem them fly. A lot of the other animals we weren't totally sure if he saw them. He was also very distracted and intrigued by all the people and kids and trees around. It was really cute to watch him. We know we'll be spending a lot of time here in the future and it will be a good time! Unfortunately, it turns out we missed the first public debut of two new lion cubs!!! We heard about it on the news that night. Bummer!
Unfortunately it seems like Aiden man picked up some germs and caught a cold on Tuesday. He had a super runny nose, was a bit cranky, and just wasn't that happy. By Wednesday he had a runny nose and a cough. Poor kiddo. But he handled it like a champ. He was still so smiley and happy most of the day. A bit more snuggly and sleepy, but doing ok. The cough lasted all the way through the weekend and you'd think we were torturing him every time we wiped his nose!
Ross and I got to take Aiden to baby storytime on Wednesday afternoon, something we'd been wanting to do for awhile, to see how he interacts with the other folks. He was soooo cute! He was so smiley and would just walk up to everyone and smile and walk all around the room. There was one other Dad that he just kept going up to and smiling. He didn't show much interest in the singing, but it was a fun outing.
Aiden has been waving so much this week. He waves at Kuna in the mornings and is starting to wave at more and more things throughout the day. It's super cute! He is also giving us high-fives! Shelby has been trying to teach him to do high-5's for the past few weeks, and it seemed to click this week. He gives Ross high-fives all the time. He also tired to give them to me through the shower door. He's so precious!
Aiden loves his basketball hoop and bumblebee clock in his room and totally knows what they are too. When we ask him where they are, he'll turn his head to them and smile. Sometimes he'll wave at them or babble at them. It's awesome to watch him learning so much. He even knows which cabinets don't have locks on them! He goes for the cabinet with the dog food in the laundry room and just opens and closes it! He still loves to help us make coffee each morning and will walk over there when we say "let's go make coffee". Aiden loves his puzzles, in particular the sea creatures. He also still loves his blocks and little cow, pig, and horse. Aiden is majorly liking books and grabs different ones all week long. He still doesn't sit very still to actually read them, but he likes flipping the pages and looking at them, and listening to as much as we can read before he flips the page! :-)
Aiden loves to play with my necklaces in the closet, or Ross's wooden boot shaper things and still enjoys turning off and on the bathtub.
Aiden and Kuna totally found the foosball table this week, and it provided probably hours of entertainment! First, he loves when I hold him and play foosball one handed. It's especially fun with we play against Daddy, whoop his butt, and Aiden gives him a high five every time our team scores! Haha! But he really loved getting the balls out of the cubby's, putting them back in, walking around with them, hiding them under the couch, smacking them together in his hands, all the while, having Kuna follow him around and often steal them when he drops the ball!
We had a great Thanksgiving with Ross's family, spending the day cooking, watching a little football and playing with Aiden. He enjoyed dropping the tennis ball from the upper level and watching Kiko go get it and bring it back! Aiden loves his uncle Reid and wouldn't take his eyes off of him during dinner. It was so cute. Aiden did pretty well trying Thanksgiving dinner and although he didn't love turkey, he did enjoy cranberry sauce!
We spent a snowy and cold weekend inside, decorating for Christmas and playing. It was some really nice downtime. Aiden did great with the tree! He definitely wants to touch it and pull at some of the ornaments, but he also wants to put his toys in the tree. Makes sense to me....all these other little toys are on the tree, may as well add mine! :-) He hasn't even unplugged it yet!!
Saturday night we had a 60th wedding anniversary dinner for Ross's grandparents. It as a cute event for his family. Aiden was the hit of the party and does so well around the large groups of people. He didn't want to sleep in his car seat for us, but he did great for such a late dinner party. Sunday night Ross and I went to the prime time Denver Broncos vs undefeated Patriots game. It was cold and snowy, Peyton Manning was out, and somehow we pulled off a win in overtime! It was a great game. Stupid Tom Brady!
